Norsk Folkedans Stemne 2005
Norsk Folkedans Stemne 2005 featuring Blanda Drops August 5, 6, and 7, 2005 at Camp Brotherhood Norsk Folkedans Stemne 2005 welcomes Blanda Drops to Seattle and Camp Brotherhood. Blanda Drops is a Norwegian expression referring to a blend of candies, figuratively "little bits of this and that." The group of people lives up to the name, with people who represent several different branches of Norwegian dancing. The group includes people with several specialties, including solo halling and hallingspringar (Ulf-Arne Johannessen), Vestlandsspringar and parhalling (Bjørn Ove Opheim), song dance (Gert Fredrik Malt), and ballroom dancing. Norsk Folkedans Stemne started in 1981. It has been twenty plus years of learning and sharing Norwegian dancing and music with folk dancing groups of all ages from Norway, Canada, and the United States. It is the only event of its kind in the United States for performing Norwegian folk dancing groups. We encourage families and individuals who are interested in Norwegian folk dancing to attend, too. Representatives of groups participate from Alaska, Arizona, Minnesota, New York, California, Montana, Oregon, British Columbia, Alberta, and Washington DC. They come to learn new dances, music, songs, and to review some familiar dances and steps. Improving dancing and our folk dancing groups is important to all the participants. All weekend, dance and music sessions take place. We also take some time to relax with friends by the pool or over a cup of coffee. Each evening there is social dancing featuring our Norwegian guests and local musicians. Reserve August 5,6, and 7, 2005, for Norsk Folkedans Stemne at Camp Brotherhood near Mt. Vernon,WA! Norsk Folkedans Stemne is a U.S. and Washington State nonprofit corporation. Our purpose to teach, share, and promote understanding of Norwegian folk dances, music, songs, and heritage and culture through our annual gathering. Thanks for your support in sharing this information with your members.
