Sons of Norway is excited to announce the Silver Anniversary of Nordic American Thanksgiving Breakfast (NATB). This year’s celebration takes place November 24, 2009, in the Grand Ballroom of the Sheraton Bloomington, which is located at 7800 Normandale Boulevard, Bloomington, Minnesota. Seating begins at 6:45 a.m., and the program commences at 7:00 a.m. Tickets are $18 per person or $180 per 10-person reserved table. Students are $14 per person. Reservations are required and are made available through Sons of Norway by contacting Nichole Neuman at (612) 821-4697. Ticket reservation deadline is November 17.

Originally founded to help the Nordic community celebrate its common values and shared heritage, the mission today also offers thanks for the privileges of freedom, faith, family and friends. In the spirit of the day, WCCO’s Frank Vascellaro, Gustavus Adolphus President Jack Ohle and Tysvar CEO Lois Quam, respectively, will relate personal experiences on these topics.

Not only does the Nordic American Thanksgiving Breakfast bring together people of Nordic heritage, but it gives them an opportunity to offer thanks for the privileges of freedom, faith, family and friends. Furthermore, it gives guests an opportunity to give back to the community by supporting two local non-profits.

This year’s beneficiaries are: Marie Sandvik Center and Minnesota Military Family Foundation. The first, Marie Sandvik Center, founded in 1940, is a private, non-profit

that provides material and spiritual needs to the inner-city poor, and we specifically support its “New Shoes for School” program. The second, Minnesota Military Family Foundation, is a non-profit, that provides loans or grants during time of extraordinary financial hardship to the spouses and children of deployed Minnesota military personnel.
