Job Opening: Membership Coordinator- Sons of Norway, an international fraternal benefit society, is looking for a Membership Coordinator to be responsible for growing membership and increasing community involvement/engagement by members. To this end, the position will be responsible for developing and maintaining recruitment and retention programs and community involvement programs, and for supporting various levels of leadership in the execution of those programs.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain recruitment and retention programs, and community involvement initiatives for use by lodges and districts.
• Develop strategies for lodges and districts to increase community awareness of the organization and to attract individuals to join.
• Monitor recruitment and retention activities of other fraternal organizations, and gather best practices. Recommend actions, programs and initiatives based on best practices.
• Develop recruitment and retention contests and initiatives and report on their status.
• Develop, with communications staff, communications strategies to attract and retain members.
• Distribute to various levels of leadership, recruitment and retention information and ideas, including information on contests and incentives, best practices (success stories), recruitment and retention issues and statistics.
• Distribute community involvement information and ideas, including information on best practices (success stories).
• Develop and contribute membership-related content to Sons of Norway publications.
• Provide back-up for the Member Services Coordinator.
• Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s in Liberal Arts, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration or similar
• Minimum 2 to 4 years experience in a similar position.
• Ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Excellent phone manner.
• Excellent writing and verbal skills.
• Excellent customer service skills (phone & email).
• Attention to detail.
• Experience using Excel, Word, a database program and email.
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior nonprofit experience.
• Experience in promoting membership in a fraternal benefit society or a nonprofit membership based organization/association.
• Experience directing and working with/coordinating volunteers.
