DESCRIPTION:Trollfjell Folkehøgskule | Open to youth ages 14 to 17 years old \nSons of Norway District Six Language and Heritage Camps offer youth a memorable opportunity to deepen their connection to Scandinavian culture while enjoying a classic summer camp experience. Trollfjell Folkehøgskule students spend their days swimming\, hiking\, and playing field games—while also exploring their heritage through daily Norwegian language lessons\, rosemaling\, axe throwing\, folk dancing\, and Scandinavian cooking. In addition\, teen campers participate in a meaningful service project that supports Camp Norge\, giving back to the camp community while developing leadership and teamwork skills. The Early Bird registration rate of $900 ends April 1\, and registration closes May 31. Space is limited\, so families are encouraged to register early.

DESCRIPTION:The Sloopers and Greeting the Restauration with Gary Swain and Dana Kelly at Sons of Norway \nMandt Lodge\, 317 South Page Street\, Stoughton\non Wednesday\, July 8\, 2026\, 7:00 PM  \nThe first organized group of Norwegian immigrants arrived in New York on October 9\, 1825. In 2025\, a replica of that journey was undertaken to commemorate the 200th anniversary. Lodge members Dana Kelly & Gary Swain were in New York to greet the replica last fall. They will share some history of the original voyage and some of their experiences greeting the ship in 2025. \nDana Kelly and Gary Swain are active in the Norwegian-American community. Both lifelong residents of the area\, they serve on the board of the Koshkonong Prairie Historical Society and are both members of Mandt Lodge\, Vesterheim\, and several bygdelags. Dana has a degree in Scandinavian Studies from UW-Madison and serves as Executive Director of the Norwegian American Genealogical Center in Madison. \nRefreshments will be served! SUMMARY:Nordic Music Festival
DESCRIPTION:Scandia Lodge #1-680 is working with the Scandinavian community to plan and hold the 17th annual Nordic Music Festival\, at the Lion’s Park in Victoria\, MN.\nThere will be Scandinavian dancers\, bands\, choirs\, musicians\, and more performing in three venues in the Lion’s Park.  The event runs from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.  There will be a group of Nordic artists and craftsmen offering their creations for sale.   The Viking Age Club will be present to demonstrate crafts and history of the ancient Viking world\, including sword fighting demonstration.   There will be Scandinavian and American foods and beverages for sale\, including lefse\, Danish pastries\, and much more.  A Silent Auction will be held\, which is the primary source of funding for this event.   A Lutefisk Toss will be held.   Best of all\, parking and admission to this event are free. DESCRIPTION:Echoes of the Past: Stories of Our Immigrant Ancestors is theme of this year’s stevne.\nJoin us in honoring and sharing Norwegian family lore at the Flere Lag Stevne in Austin\, Minnesota\, September 15-18\, 2026! \nThis gathering is sponsored by heritage groups whose ancestors came from the old regions of Norway including Solør\, Romerike (Akershus)\, Hedmark\, Gudbrandsdal\, and Trøndelag. Volunteer genealogists with experience in researching those areas will be on hand to assist in tracing family history in Norwegian records. \nJanette Dragvold will perform folk tunes on hardanger fiddle and nyckelharpa for our entertainment at the Thursday night banquet. Austin architect Miranda Moen is slated to give a presentation on “Houses our Ancestors Built” on Thursday afternoon. Other program topics during the conference include “Writing Your Family Stories\,” “Early Norwegian Settlers in Southeast Minnesota\,” and “How to Research House History.” Full event and single-day registrations are available. \nA free Nordic Fair will be open to the public on Tuesday\, Sept. 15 (1-6 pm)\, Wednesday\, Sept. 16 (10 am-6 pm)\, and Thursday\, Sept. 17 (8 am-4 pm).
