“The Last King” is a Norwegian historical action-drama set in Norway in the year 2014 during a brutal civil war. The dying king is poisoned by an internal rival faction who want to seize the throne. The king leaves behind a secret infant son, Haakon Haakonson, who two loyal Birkenbeiner warriors are tasked with protecting and smuggling the baby across treacherous, snowy mountains while pursued by an enemy army.
