Current Exhibit: New exhibit of Tiner at Livsreise. Now through October 31, 2026, Livsreise has curated a new display of Norwegian Tiner but what is a tine? A tine is a bentwood box that was historically made throughout Scandinavia (including Norway). They were used for storage of food, trinkets, sewing supplies, clothing, or other things and for transport of food and goods. Those constructed today are used mainly for home décor and occasionally storage. They are generally constructed with a thin strip of wood shaped into an oval, or less commonly a circular form after being soaked in water (or steamed) to make it pliable. When left to dry the piece retains its oval shape. This display includes tiner of all sizes and forms of decoration. Stop by soon to see them all!

  • Sons of Norway Open House for 100th Anniversary– Sons of Norway – Mandt Lodge is hosting a 100th Anniversary Open House on Sunday, November 1, from 2:00-5:00 PM at 317 South Page Street, Stoughton. We are so excited to be celebrating our 100th Anniversary – the official date is October 20, 1926, but we are having an open house during the Destination Stoughton Weekend! We welcome the public, other lodges, and anyone who would like to come help us celebrate this special occasion. We will have a program at 2:30 PM in which we will highlight activities over the years and go through some of our history. We welcome people to share memories, their recollections about the building, and other stories. We bought the building in 1970, so it has seen lots of changes! Throughout the afternoon there will be historical displays, our scrapbooks on display, showing photos on the screens, and tours of the building. We hope that you can come and help us celebrate this special occasion! Refreshments will be served! Everyone is welcome and no reservations are needed! Please contact Darlene Arneson at [email protected] or 608-873-7209 for more information. Mandt Lodge is handicapped accessible with a lift located on the south side of the building. There is parking on the street, public parking lot behind the Stoughton Senior Center, or in the Livsreise parking lot if their building is closed. We always encourage you to bring donations for the Stoughton Food Pantry! The public is always welcome at Mandt Lodge!
