Echoes of the Past: Stories of Our Immigrant Ancestors is theme of this year’s stevne.
Join us in honoring and sharing Norwegian family lore at the Flere Lag Stevne in Austin, Minnesota, September 15-18, 2026!
This gathering is sponsored by heritage groups whose ancestors came from the old regions of Norway including Solør, Romerike (Akershus), Hedmark, Gudbrandsdal, and Trøndelag. Volunteer genealogists with experience in researching those areas will be on hand to assist in tracing family history in Norwegian records.
Janette Dragvold will perform folk tunes on hardanger fiddle and nyckelharpa for our entertainment at the Thursday night banquet. Austin architect Miranda Moen is slated to give a presentation on “Houses our Ancestors Built” on Thursday afternoon. Other program topics during the conference include “Writing Your Family Stories,” “Early Norwegian Settlers in Southeast Minnesota,” and “How to Research House History.” Full event and single-day registrations are available.
A free Nordic Fair will be open to the public on Tuesday, Sept. 15 (1-6 pm), Wednesday, Sept. 16 (10 am-6 pm), and Thursday, Sept. 17 (8 am-4 pm). Vendors will have a variety of Scandinavian items for sale.
The stevne will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton, 1701 Fourth St. NW, Austin, MN 55912.
