Are you a handball fan? The sport is a national pastime for Norwegians. In the May 2015 issue of Viking magazine, we had the pleasure of featuring handball player Stine Bredal Oftedal. She started playing with the Norwegian National Team in 2010. She’s won gold medals in several championship matches, including the World Championship in Brazil in 2011. Next year, Oftedal hopes to make her first Olympic appearance at the Rio de Janeiro games. Check out her interview on page 9 and learn more about her below.
“My favorite place is Nevlunghavn, a small village outside Larvik, about an hour-and a-half drive from Oslo. It’s a small summer paradise by the sea and because my grandfather lives there, I’ve spent all of my summers there.”

In the beginning I was selected mostly to learn from the more experienced players, and I feel that I’ve taken things step by step. “An athlete I admire is cross-country skier Marit Bjørgen. She’s an amazing athlete who has won everything within her sport. She’s a machine, and at the same time humble and down to earth as a person.”
“I don’t have any special hobbies, but I really like good food and love to find small, cozy restaurants/places in Paris where I live. I also like to watch a good movie or just hang out with friends.”
