The main part of our Syttende Mai program will be an informal read-through of the play, “The Uprooting” (original title: “About the First Emigration to America – 1825”) by Vigleik Rosseland and translated into English by Kristbørg Eide.
First performed in June 2014 at the Sons of Norway District 1 Convention in Duluth, Minn., we are introducing the play, whose main character is Cleng Peerson, to our lodge members and anyone interested in attending this in-person event. This read-through is in advance of a more formal performance planned to be staged later in the year by actual actors.
