Nordic American Thanksgiving Breakfast Welcomes Ambassador

Nordic American Thanksgiving Breakfast Welcomes Ambassador

If you haven’t ordered your tickets yet for the Nordic American Thanksgiving Breakfast, we’ve got some news that might just change your mind. We’re proud to announce that this year’s event is also going to be attended by none other than Norway’s Ambassador to the United States, His Excellency Kåre R. Aas! Even better—Ambassador Aas will also join this year’s speakers and MC on stage and make a few opening remarks to the audience.

This news comes highly anticipated by the Norwegian-American community. “I am genuinely delighted in that Ambassador Aas will finally have the opportunity to attend and enjoy one of the premier Nordic-American events in the country,” said Eivind Heiberg, the newly appointed Honorary Consul General for the State of Minnesota.

Ambassador Kåre R. Aas presented his credentials to President Obama at the White House on Sept. 17, 2013. Prior to that Ambassador Aas enjoyed a distinguished career with the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs—most recently serving as Political Director. Before that, Amb. Aas served as the Norwegian Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan from 2008 – 2010. From 2003 – 2008, Amb. Aas served as Director General, Department for Security Policy and the High North. In that capacity he had the bilateral relationships between Norway and the U.S., the Russian Federation and the Central Asian Republics in his portfolio, and chaired and/or was a member of several international groups working on nuclear disarmament and international peacekeeping operations.
