This week, Sons of Norway Chief Executive Officer Eivind Heiberg presented the charitable recipients of the 32nd Annual Nordic American Thanksgiving Breakfast with nearly $8,000 each, the result of the generosity of those who attended last month’s event. Pictured receiving a warm handshake is Second Harvest Heartland CEO Rob Zeaske. Minnesota Military Family Foundation Founder and President Bill Popp was also on hand to accept donations on the foundation’s behalf.

Nearly 900 people attended this year’s event to celebrate the themes of freedom, faith, family and friends. Guests enjoyed presentations by Twin Cities Public Television Journalist Mary Lahammer, Senator John Marty and Minnesota Orchestra Music Director Osmo Vänskä. The Augsburg Choir provided musical entertainment and the event was emceed by Senior Journalist Don Shelby.

Sons of Norway extends a heartfelt thanks to all who planned and participated in the event, and is especially grateful for the generosity of those who supported Minnesota military families struggling with financial hardship and local families who lack food and nourishment.

Sons of Norway founded the Nordic American Thanksgiving Breakfast in 1985.
