2 1/4 tsp. (one packet) dry yeast
2 1/8 cups water
1 Tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. salt
3 Tbsp. + 1 tsp. olive oil
5 cups flour
8 hot dogs or sausages
10 cherry tomatoes
1 jar capers
1 tsp. kosher salt
Dissolve the yeast in warm water. Add sugar, salt, oil and flour to the yeast mixture. Knead the dough well.
Cover the dough and let rise in a warm place until it has doubled in size.
Grease a roasting pan with oil or line with parchment paper. Place half the dough into the pan and press firmly to spread the dough evenly across in the pan.
Add the hot dogs or sausages and cover with the remaining dough.
Cut the cherry tomatoes in half, make small holes in the top of the dough with your finger and push the halved tomatoes into them.
Pour the olive oil over the bread, cover with the capers and salt.
Set aside to rise for another 30–40 minutes.
Bake the bread in the oven at 400º F for about 25–30 minutes.
Let cool for 10 minutes and divide into pieces to serve.
For for a little different flavor, you can substitute bratwurst or spicy sausages for the hot dogs.
